We had a super fun 3rd and 4th of July this year. On Friday we went to a firework celebration with Nana, Grandma and Pops, The Kemmerlins, and the Hamricks. The kids played on the playground and we had a picnic. I was worried that Carter wouldn't be able to hang until the fireworks, since he is normally in bed around 7. He did great. When the fireworks started he sat there in a trance with a big smile across his face. When it was over he clapped along with the rest of the crowd. I was also worried that Maddie would be scared by the loud boom of the fireworks (since she is terrified of any public toilet flushing), but she loved them. She said "Mommy this is so awesome".

On the fourth there is a parade that goes down the street we live on. We sat up chairs and watched the parade. Carter LOVED it. He vigorously waved his flag and danced to the music. Madison thought that she was in heaven with all the candy that we collected (Please check out Miss Priss with her legs crossed and her high heels watching the parade). We then headed down to the lake for the big city cookout. We had yummy bbq and treats. The kids had a blast watching the decorating contest and games. We finished the evening with a cookout and our own fireworks show. The highlight of the show was Brian setting our grass on fire. Nice.
